The End
So starting this blog as a means to develop my chops and then finding myself in front of 1000+ a year later, reading a post to a bunch of you was quite a ride. And I think probably enough. A good happy ending.
You guys made good on Andy Warhol's promise. Thank you so much.
This blog will self destruct as soon as I copy all the posts I want to keep.
It's over. I quit. It's a calm day with no Wind. ~bhj

Ya can't go! All the plants are gonna die!!
I just found you...and will miss you. :(
And develop your chops you have. Will miss it. Good luck with whatever endeavors you are pursuing next!
Awww, man.
What?
i'm hoping you're a liar liar pants on fire
This is weird. Over the weekend, in the midst of my ferocious ongoing panic attack, I entertained (pretty frequently) the thought of going home and deleting my blog.
I haven't fully disregarded that idea.
So seeing you cast away yours is kind of scary. You've been a beacon for me many, many times. Not always in obvious ways. Sometimes just by making me smile or cry.
Thank you for waving to me this weekend and briefly dragging me out of a bad headspace. I loved seeing you and listening to you read.
I love this blog and I am sad to see you retire it but I absolutely believe that you have more to share and I look forward to finding out where to read your words when they're ready.
Much love, homie.
well, this blows. Your reading @ BlogHer was my first BlackHockeyJesus experience.
Is this a for real retirement or one of those fake Jay-Z retirements?
Hey, this isn't funny....
"Oh, no. Please don't go. We'll eat you up, we love you so."
You are the King of the Wild Things. You'll be missed.
I won't lie. I'm sad about this, but I respect your decision.
THANK YOU!
April Fools?
Please email me.
Noooooooo!!!!!
But if you must, you must. I get it.
And I'm so glad I got to meet you, and to see you read an example of your brilliance, live. What a way to close.
Best to you BHJ. I will certainly miss this place, and you.
While this makes me a little sad, I can understand. Really enjoyed talking with you last weekend, and I look forward to seeing your ass again next week!
Maybe you can do guest posts here and there, right?
Regardless, I promise to buy multiple copies of anything in print containing your words. I don't think I'll be alone in such action, either.
Oh no! Just found you as well, going to have to read a lot tonight! Any idea of when you'll drop the bomb?
You'll be back. Maybe not in blog form, but you'll be back, damn you. And whatever you put out, I will buy and consume with the voracity of a wolf. A voracious wolf, obviously.
what. the. fuck?
what am I missing?
"5" was my favorite. I wish I'd gone this year to meet you and hear it read.
Sorta hoping this post is a little trick...Although, that would be really mean.
Oh no. I hope you change your mind.
If not, good luck! I'll miss this blog tremendously.
What???? Well this sucks.
I just found your blog too. Sorry to see you put it to rest!
I just found you too. Dang, not cool!
Wellllll....shoot.
Glad I got to meet you, even if I totally weirded you out. Let us know when someone is wise enough to publish your stuff.
You have not thought this through, BHJ. Take down this post and let the dust settle. Sewiously.
No fucking way. Really??? WHY? Whywhywhy. You better be writing a book, that's all I have to say. Well, that and I'm going to miss you like crazy. Godspeed, or whatever people say in this sort of instance.
Good Luck. Don't kill Lucy.
The true pros always go out on top.
Unless, of course, this is a last gasp attempt to get dooce's attention.
Peace,
Kevin.
Say it ain't so!
Sad to see you go, but I know we'll see you around. Your brilliance is pervasive.
...well isn't that just sucky!
Best wishes in your next endeavor!
but...but...some of us just found you! :(
Didn't realize you'd unmasked yourself at BlogHer by doing a reading. I've enjoyed reading your blog. Some of the posts felt like riding a rocket and then breaking through the atmosphere to glimpse the stars. Thank you.
You'll be missed. I hope you'll reappear somewhere else soon.
<p>You can swear and say v all you want but the truth is you're a class act and have been from start to finish.</p><p>I have nothing but admiration for you and it was an honor to share your stage.</p>
Good run, Jon.
Hope I'll still see you in my comments section sporadically at two ay emm.
I will miss you so. I never commented, but always read.
This bums me out, but I get it. I'm a big fan, so please give a heads-up if a rebirth takes place. You'll be missed.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!
may the force be with you.
this seriously has me fucked. not sure what to say, but i've so enjoyed everything. i hope to see you again somewhere & am sure that i will.
You've had a heck of a run. I'm sad to see you go but I wish you nothing but the best and all the happiness in the world. Unless this is a joke. Then I wish occasional minor inconveniences and a daughter who steals peanut butter cups.
awwwww. Just....awwwwwwwww.
Well... I'm just sad.
I said in my first panel at BlogHer that a lot of people shut down their blogs after BlogHer. After, quite a few expressed some skepticism as to whether or not I was pulling this out of my rear.
It happens. For a lot of very different reasons. Usually very personal reasons.
For instance, satisfaction. Gasp. ;) One of my favorite reasons, by the way.
If you go, it was nice to meet you.
This sucks. You're joking, right? Right? You are an awesome, awesome writer. So glad I got to hear you read in person.
Well...dang...and, umm...you're joking, right? Right?? Tell me this is some horrible gag, a kind of blogging frat rush thing before you let us all in on some earth shattering secret...
If you're serious, well...you'll be missed. And dang, again.
Shade and Sweetwater,
K
Bummer. You're one of those bloggers that makes me want to take more risks as a writer - and I've been writing for a living since the days when I was a young chippy, listening to BDP in my ugly gold Mercury Topaz. I do not comment much or know you well, but please know that I'll miss your writing voice.
Good luck. I hope this means you're taking on something new that will be publicly available at some point.
Peace out.
I'm really going to miss you. Wish I could have heard you read at Blogher. Hope that isn't what made the end of blog-dom loom so forcefully. You are a terrific writer; inspirational and amazing.
Best to you BHJ!
My head hurts now. And my heart. I truly enjoyed reading your blog, BHJ. I wish you'd reconsider. :(
